Drew has been cast on the new CBS Pilot called “Training Day”! He will play opposite Bill Paxton and Katrina Law. The series is a present-day reimagining of Antoine Fuqua’s acclaimed 2001 feature.
Set 15 years after the film left off, the TV show, written by Will Beall and directed by Danny Cannon, centers on an idealistic young African-American police officer, Kyle Craig, is appointed to an elite squad of the LAPD where he is partnered with seasoned, morally ambiguous detective Frank Rourke (Paxton).
Drew will play Tommy Campbell, an officer with the LAPD’s Special Investigation Section (S.I.S.), a unit that goes after the worst of the worst, Tommy Campbell is a former pro surfer who’s usually seen in board shorts; he may still look like a surfer, but he’s traded in riding the waves for the dangerous highs that come from swimming with a different type of shark.
Fuqua and Beall executive produce Training Day with Jerry Bruckheimer TV’s Jerry Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman for Warner Bros. TV, Fuqua Films and Jerry Bruckheimer TV.
Congratulations to Drew on this exciting new project! Really looking forward to seeing him back on my TV! I will keep you all updated on more news… And fingers crossed “Training Day” gets picked up for a series in May.
